You don't have to be a Modi fan. But if the alleged complicity in the Gujarat riots is bothering you please make a comparative study of Gujarat riots 1969, Delhi riots 1984, Bhagalpur riots 1989 and of course Gujarat 2002. In each case study the cause for riots to begin, when does the State request for army, when does the army arrive and when it arrives how long after it is deployed. How may rounds did the State police fire each time to quell rioters, how many rioters were shot dead by the police each time their composition ie. Hindus, Muslims,etc, how many were injured in police firing each time their composition etc. Total number of deaths in the riots , again their composition etc, you opinion of Modi may change. Since you had taken pains to research on the awards, I advise that the official reports of the riots are available on the net. As the kar sevaks were burnt Modi had requested for police help from MP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra all 3 then ruled by "SECULAR" congressmen. But all 3 declined help! The CM of MP then was none other than dear Dig Vijaya Singh and now see the elan with which he goes about criticizing Modi's handling of the riots ? In this connection see India Today Conclave 2008 on You Tube with Modi, Dig Vijaya and Abdulla of J&K on the dias. Modi replies to Dig Vijaya's taunt aptly and to his face. Read The Hindu of 1/3/2002 which had said --- Modi frantically trying to get the army deployed---- Hardly the activity of a person who wishes to go easy on the Hindus. In Gujarat's case army was deployed on the boder with Pakistan after the attack on Parliament House the previous year and had to airlifted and re dployed. Yet this was done in 48 hrs ( SIT report SC appointed ) If indeed Gujarat 2002 was State sponsored, there would have been only less than 1800 dead in several days? Whereas Delhi had over 3000 Sikhs butchered in just 2 days and army deployed after 72 hrs. Find out whether any rioter was shot dead by Delhi Police, find out whether any rioter was wounded in police firing , find out whether any rioter was hospitalized in Delhi 1984 with any injuries, find out if any policeman was injured in Delhi 1984 trying to quell riots and hospitalized --- you would soon realise that it was totally a one sided affair Congress Vs the Delhi Sikhs. Only sikhs were killed or injured or looted or raped. The Prime Minister was Rajeev Gandhi and yet you find it easy to believe that he was a saint ?

Sam baba..you are talking as if your above points are gonna decide the future government..SO we dont need an election..lets count the likes on this blog and decide our future PM.....The second senior in BJP Mr Advani himself is against him...sushma and many others in the list..Nithish ran away from UPA...BJP in karnataka lost the elections!!!! (even after your god visted and tried his best to cast votes for BJP!!!!????? likes dislikes..thats shit....I can pump up likes like anything on my comment if I wish(no time to spend on such shitty things)..So dont go that blind some people from Gujrat and people in some cities are not gonna decide things..nyways lets wait and see.(

Its a political agenda and people do not really support Modi. Is that what you want to say? Check out this comment section and you will be able to find out that in his own website Tinu Cherian got more dislikes than likes. Also if you observe the comments 80% of them are for Modi, most of the others neutral and couple of them against him. And again check the number of up votes to each of the comments made in favor of Modi, you will get to know his popularity. Now, however vehemently you guys evangelize, it is not going to change the minds of any of these people, least you guys may change your bigoted minds.

You failed to mention you bigot that Gujarat is the only state which got the award 2 times from 2005, whereas only a few other states received this award that too only once. And I can call you the biggest murderer because you were in Bangalore when the last couple of riots happened here. It is well proved that Modi had called curfew immediately after the riots had started and called in Army within an hour. Had he not controlled the riot, at least 27000 people would have been killed in Gujarat. No other state in India had been able to control the riots in so less time. He contained the killings to just 1044 and around 300 of those killed were Hindus. Your bigoted thinking amazes me to a great extent.

Tinucherian, Good article. I have read a lot and always find bias
towards Mr. Modi by Media & people in general but I believe true
should prevail. Though your article tries to show correct picture on the
basis of your research which i believe you have honestly done. Good
work by I want to also highlight to you that most of the people who are
at ground are talking good (including your own blog) these are the
people who are direct impacted people by Modi initiative. I know it's
CBI job to investigate regarding Modi. So if you can talk about one of
his work that it not fact I could appreciate if you do a transparent
research on the riots which happened.

I want to answer below doubts of yours

But, honestly, I am not an admirer of Modi, especially due to his
alleged complicity with the Gujarat communal violence and killings.

Regarding
Roits i give you example or may I say No.: Gujrat as history of
Violence before 2002 also, If you ask or do survey with common people
what happenned in Gujrat no one will know. ( All people who are reading
this comments can check themselves with common people like there friends
or family members) they will say that Mr Modi did some killing if you
ask how they will not have answer for it. (Just do the survey if
possible put the result here) you come to know and be honesty and not
like paid media.

Actually Gujrat Hindu where killed in train by
Muslim (These guys started) it than roits took place after that in which
total around 1K people died out of that around 250-300 Hindu) which was
controlled by Mr Modi in around 1 weeks time I don't have the exact No.
(roits in advance contries like UK, Assam in end of 2010 took many
week to control and we are talking of 2001 when we didn't had that much
tech & skill as country (Also it was new to Mr Modi every person as
learning curve) if you work in MNC you will know it.

Having said
that I am not saying that it was good but I am saying that it's really
sad that you try to showcase it wrongly. By the way in Gujrat Hindu
population is around 85% so that means 15 had the balls to kill around
30-35% of people if Muslim not got paste than by now they could have
killed more also by nature MOST of them are like the no. show you that
or u can have no. of example of same in Assam, Kashmir, Kerala etc..By
the way if you are really passionate about so research I could suggest
you to do some on around 1000 of people killed in Bangalesh destroying
more than 100 of Hindu temple. If same thing happens in our country no
one will talk..I think i have written enough. I please suggest people to
influence atleast 10-15% of ur know people of facts otherwise we will
keep on believing this paid media & congress people. Hope you do
some research on that also though I know it's police job or CBI one.

Hi Tinu ..This was a nice article.....I also saw this on Facebook and was searching for the validity of the news....Thanks to u you have already put it out in one page.........There is a serious political agenda going on Facebook and similar social media networks to make Modi heroic neglecting the real facts......Just check out the Human development index of Gujrat...How can it be the best 2nd state in world???check out the education level among Indian states itself....They say 100% women studying...does it make any sense???? Agreed with the governments strategy in private sector..Its investment policies attracting private firms.....Nothing more........People of Gujrat where already rich before Modi bcos they have great Buisness brains :)

But honestly, I strongly agree that citizens and leaders should work hand in hand. But are we all leaders? NO. That is why we have elected our representatives who were willing to take up the cause of ordinary citizens.

It just take few hours to write an article like this. When he can ask a question what does a politician know about the plight of ordinary citizen, first he should ask what does he know about politician life?

It has become a trend to post and create sensation when something happens and even we "Aam aadmi" hue & cry and later we forget and move on.

earlier when I was growing up people used to help girls if someone was eve teasing but by the time I entered college people started looking the other way, no one used to help. In buses if there was an eve teaser, the whole bus used to shout at him and threw them off the bus now no one wants to get involved not your neighbours not your co-passengers , its their silence that has made eve teasers bolder.

Just kidding.. As clarified in Karthik's blog comment section and twitter, there is no relation between me and Dilip other than we share a common surname. Cherian is a common christian name among malayalees.

Infact I didn't even know Buzz was related to Perfect Relations, until somebody pointed it out on twitter. I then cced Dilip on twitter to seek some official response from him , which I didnt get.

Fail to understand what wrong cleartrip did. And it seems you are suggesting that spamming activity by PR is less serious an issue than Cleartrip naming them in their blog post. Note that it was a CNBC tweet that let the whole world know about the issue. For cleartrip, and for that matter for any serious business, customer is the priority. I cannot blame cleartrip if they used this opportunity to connect more with customers.

The first lie in the Cleartrip's story angle " Don't spam my
customers" (which was actually "Don't spam my bloggers mailing list")
which was (probably) intended to gain the sympathies of the common
people.

This is how I read this, CT gave a list of bloggers to BuzzPR for their campaign. Agency reused it without permission for other campaigns. CT pissed off.

Blogger complained. CT warned the agency. Agency didn't take it
seriously ( It is a grave mistake), Continued to re-use. Got fired ! CT just blew its own trumpet.

The Agency was unprofessional as it abused data that was given. Fits
termination of services after repeated warnings. But Cleartrip was
equally unprofessional in how the issue was handled. A code of ethics
and business practices were broken by both.

I'm not a blogger in the sense that I don't write about events. Cleartrip did not invite me to cover the event. I was there as a friend of the design lead, since we had been corresponding on his work at Cleartrip.

I have told PR repeatedly that I am not a news outlet and have no use for their releases. They confirmed they will stop mailing me, and yet did not.

You never shared "why it was inappropriate for cleartrip to go public" . It's important to clarify reasons before you judge some actions. Like Kiran there would be many Cleartrip customers that would be getting spammed, it make perfect sense to issue a public statement clarifying who is responsible for that.
